7 Underappreciated Black Fashion Bloggers You Need to Know

Sometimes reading all about the new fashions and styles leads you to images that don’t fit your style. The most talked about, and anticipated styles have been on blogs for weeks but what are the bloggers of color and curves loving in the fashion world? After carefully shopping for the perfect accessories and dresses for your special occasion, you wonder how it would look on a curvy, woman of color like yourself. All of the speculation is killing your vibe, and you need answers and confirmation that you are making the best style choices. You order the new styles you’ve been eyeing for a while but still speculate how they would look on you. It was just as you thought; it looked beautiful on the model but not as flattering on you.

I created the illustrations below as part of a Fashion Blog Tour, to showcase bloggers of color who you may not know about but should. Check out the illustrations and these blogger's favorite style icons, as well as their favorite quotes to live by in life and in fashion.

Leslie's favorite style icon is Taylor Tomasi and when asked about her favorite quote she responded, "Forgiveness heals all wounds."

2. Kasi at
Kasi's favorite style icon is Blake Lively and when asked about her favorite quote she replied, "Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak." - Rachel Zoe.

3. Kristina of
Kristina's favorite style icons include Grace Jones, Liris Crosse, Bettie Page, Tracee Ellis Ross, Dorothy Dandridge an Queen Latifah. Kristina believes that "Everything you want is on the other side of fear!"

4. Crystal at
Crystal's favorite style icons are Solange Knowles, and Janelle Monae. Crystal believes that "it's not how much you spend, it’s how you put these pieces together. Look up the season's trends, and then thrift for them. You'll maximize your money and your image that way."

5. Jonna at
Jonna's favorite style icon is Solange Knowles and provided us with her favorite quote, "First they'll ask you why you did it. Then they'll ask you how you did it. Never ask yourself why you didn't do it."

6. Teena at
Teena's favorite fashion icon is Solange Knowles and believes, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."

7. Pascha at
Pascha's favorite style icon is Tracee Ellis Ross and believes that quality supersedes quantity, "quality over quantity."

Each blogger here is capable of motivating you to accept your differences, as they are already doing for their readers. They actively showing us that you can wear what you want to wear and that you do not have to wait for the "prefect" body or large bank account to develop your personal style.
